Hi everyone! Welcome to the Polish Texans forum. My name is James and I an the administrator of this forum as well as the Polish Texans website. I have been researching my Polish ancestors for over 15 years now. My great grandparents came to Bremond, Texas from the Debica and Pilzno areas of southeastern Poland and my grandparents later moved to New Waverly and then to Houston. If you care to learn a little more about me, you can read my complete bio on the main Polish Texans website. Members, please introduce yourself by replying to this thread or by starting a new thread.

Hello All - My name is Barb and I pride myself as being 100% Polish. My ancestors hailed from the Poznan area of Prussia/Poland. They settled in the counties of Grimes, Washington and later Harris.
I take my heritage very seriously and have served on the board of the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas for eight years and have held the position of president for the past three. I also serve on the Polish Footprints periodical committee.
I look forward to meeting many new Texan Poles through this forum.

Welcome to the forum Barb. I was starting to get a little lonesome in here by myself. Hopefully I can convince some more people to join us. You know that you are more than welcome to post PGST information in this forum anytime you want. Just to add a little information about Barb, She has been a very effective leader of the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas. I know a little about what's involved in holding that position and I'm impressed with what she has accomplished in the last three years.

My name is Diann. My grandfathers were Pete and Francis (Wagner) Olbrych. My father was Edmond J Olbrych, their youngest son. I used to correspond with Rita Olbrych, granddaughter of John Olbrych, my grandfather's brother. We lost touch many year ago and I was just taking a chance she might be reading this.

Hello, my name is Vince Martin. I grew up in the New Waverly area. My grandfather is Bronislaus Gorny, son of Constantia Lewandowski Gorny. My grandmother is Hattie Grzegorek Gorny, daughter of Stash Grzegorek.
Gorny and Grzegorek were changed to Goodney and Gregory.
I just started formally tracing my geneology a few days ago. I already find it a fascinating endeavor.

Hello Everyone - My name is Diana Quiroga. My grandmother was born in Bremond Tx and tracing her ancestory has been very difficult. James I read your bio and it gave me hope. I know her maiden name was orginally Julia Niedzwiedz and that here parents were Anton and Nellie. I have been able to verifiy that by the 1900 census. I also have a lot of information on her mother but her father died in 1902, I believe he is burried in the Catholic Cemetary in Bremond although the name is spelled different on the listing. I have not been able to find out anything else about him.

Hi all. My name is Shirley and although I was adopted, I've become very interested in the Polish culture since my adoptive mother was Polish. Her grandparents were immigrants to Panna Maria, if I'm not mistaken. Her parents were Clara and Alec Skrobarczyk.

I just found this website yesterday and I've already spent many hours since then looking at the genealogy pages. I was born in Bremond in 1951. My parents were William Bielamowicz and Christine Hopcus, both deceased. My paternal grandparents were John Ike Bielamowicz and Agnes Grych and my maternal grandparents were Bronislaw (Bruno) Hopcus and Anastazja Muzyka. I have visited the birthplace of my Bielamowicz ancestors, Slawecin, Poland and of the Hopcus ancestors, Lesko, Poland. Thanks to this website I have been made aware of the villages of origin of the other branches of the family. In future visits to Poland and Ukraine I now have new destinations to explore. I also have information that's missing on some individuals in my family and the Muzyka name is entirely missing from the genealogy charts here. If it's possible I'd like to add the information that I've gathered on my own. I live in Brooklyn, New York. I moved to Greenpoint, the largest Polish community in the Northeast U.S. in 1980. I studied Polish Language at the Polish Institute in New York and attended a Summer Session in Polish Language and Culture at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow in the mid 1980's. I'm happy to have found this website as it has refueled my interest in my Polish ancestors and the areas from which they immigrated. Thanks.
Reginald Bielamowicz

Hello, my name is John Janacek and I am of Czech and Polish descent. I have been searching the Czech side of the family for about 8 years now, but haven't spent as much time with the polish side, until now. My Polish ancestry consists of Szczepanowski (Stepanski) and Jendzry, so far. The Stepanki's, Marcin Szczepanowski, my Great, Great, Great-Grandfather, came from Poznan, Poland and settled in Bremond, tx. I am excited to learn of this side of the family.
