St. Stanislaus bazaar and dedication coming soon
BY GAIL SOWELL
St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson has hosted many annual
homecomings and bazaars in the past, but this one will be special
for all the long-time parishioners, as well as the more recent
parishioners.
This year's event, set for Sunday, Oct. 12, is dedicated in honor of
retired pastor the Rev. Louis Sikorski, who served more than 28
years, and to the loving memory of Maxine Lee, parish secretary, who served for more than 30 years.
The present pastor, the Rev. Raul Marterior, and the parishioners of
St. Stanislaus are inviting the community to help celebrate this
special occasion with them for the 53rd time.
A barbecue and sausage dinner, costing $7 per plate for adults and
$5 for children, will be served at 11 a.m. There will be booths and
games for all ages. Tommy Szymczak will once again head up the live auction beginning at 1 p.m. with lots of nice items, antiques and
quilts as well as some very special historic pieces.
Live Polish music will be provided for entertainment and dancing
throughout the day by Brian Marshall and the Texas Paradise Band.
This year marks the twentieth consecutive year this band has
entertained at the annual bazaar.
A raffle of 11 nice prizes will be drawn at the end of the auction.
Participants will also be able to purchase lots of handmade and
homemade items at Babusha's Porch.
The beautiful, historic church, which was completed in 1917, will
also be open for visitors to view.
Proceeds will benefit the beautification and maintenance of the
church as well as the building of a new parish hall.
For more information, call the parish office at 936-873-2291 or
visit their website at www.saintstans.org.
